The weather this summer has been really nice and we have taken advantage of it by going out cruising quite a bit. We went south for a trip to meet up with the Anacortes Yacht Club in Port Ludlow stopping at Langley, Poulsbo, Crescent Harbor and Spencer Spit on the way to and from the event. We visited the Naval Undersea Museum in Poulsbo which was really cool and enjoyed the breweries at Poulsbo as well as Langley. On the way back, we crossed through Deception Pass and were greeted by immediate thick fog on the other side. Thankfully, we were able to duck into Bowman Bay to wait out the fog, along with several other boats that were there doing the same thing.
In between cruising, we have taken advantage of the outdoor music concerts at our marina in Anacortes as well as local hiking. On one of our hikes, we came across people with para-gliders getting ready to jump off the cliff. Nice view, but I was happy to walk down the mountainside instead of jumping. We have also been participating in the Wednesday night races and Erik has become an expert at manning the spinnaker on the foredeck.
This last weekend, we participated in the Deer Harbor cruise with the Anancortes Yacht Club. There were 28 boats participating and lots of fun activities including rubber ducky races, a sea creature art project using pool noodles and plenty of food and happy hour events.
Fall is in the air and the leaves are starting to turn. Getting ready to bring on winter!
