One of the pleasant surprises on this trip has been all the nice people we have met in the campgrounds along the way. I have really enjoyed speaking to so many people who have retired early and/or have sold their homes and are traveling full time. It is inspiring to talk to so many people who have opted for this lifestyle. Like sailing, everyone has a much different strategy on equipment. You have the “don’t leave home without it people” with the tractor trailer size RV with a car towed behind. We met a couple from Northern California that had one of these set ups. We visited their RV for drinks and snacks. The inside was huge! You seriously could have set up a dance floor in the middle.
You have the minimalist but not wanting to sleep in a tent people. This little trailer is owned by a couple from Colorado. The inside is a queen bed and no more. You crawl in the bed from doors on the side. It did have a sink and stove on the back also and a TV mounted inside.
This RV is owned by a couple from LA. It is decked out with tons of solar, a gas grill, gas fire ring, weather station, video cameras, WiFi antennas and amplifiers and electric bikes. He enjoyed showing us all the technical set up details. Reminded us of sailors who love this type of stuff for boats.
Then there is us, hoping our tent will make it all the way to Seattle in one piece!

Susan says she is a #2 style camper (minimalist), and I am a #3 (technology to the point of uselessness).

Ha! Your choices make perfect sense. Susan’s is the tiny home of RV’s and your is an engineer’s dream!

That’s a great collection of pictures. At least with your way the driving and parking is MUCH easier.

You are very correct about the parking, not to mention the driving!

Love this post. Land cruising at it’s best. We’re somewhere between tiny trailer and campervan. Have you seen any bolers or scotties?

Not sure, but will keep our eyes out!

I wonder where my camper fits on the scale…certainly no dance floor, but also bigger than a breadbox. I tell people it’s been spotted from the space station. I love the little tear drop. Small is beautiful.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
