Erik and I went on a day trip to check out the border town of Blaine, WA. Blaine has a small downtown area and a marina, but not much else. As the border to Canada is closed due to COVID in the United States, this town was definitely quieter than it normally would be. There is a park right on the border that is the site of the Peace Arch which was erected to commemorate the treaty between the countries in 1814.
The arch sits between the US and Canada border checkpoints. Both checkpoints were closed.
We got a kick out of the visual. Hey, it’s bad enough that the border is closed, but geez, didn’t they read the sign on the arch?
Of course Karen couldn’t resist sneaking into Canada anyway.
Kind of similar to this picture of her sneaking into Mexico around the infamous wall on our road trip last winter.
I am going to have to be more careful – I probably now show up on some kind of homeland security watch list.

Post election, hopefully now relations with Canada will ease up. I have friends in New Brunswick, Canada who have their postal box in the US and can’t get a lot of their mail from the US.

Definitely happy about the election and hope people heed COVID advice. Sorry about your friend’s challenges with the border closure.

Love your posts. Looks like you guys are having a blast. Not missing anything here…just dodging weather and tons and tons of rain

Hi guys, we all missed you at work weekend here at the club. Surprising number showed, and we got some things done. Not like years past where we were swarming all over the place. Geoff was out of town, so I got tasked with greasing the carts. Janice and Alyn were working upstairs, Trish and Bob painted, Missy had worked 13 days in a row so took Sunday off. I’m going to tow Shore Thing back from Carla’s place to the club tomorrow. I rented a place at the Mutiny (who knew?).
Everyone says hi, and drat this virus: hope to see you on the other side. Stay safe, Kev
