With all the virus rules in place, we are constantly trying to find ways to stay busy and entertained. All the sailing clubs are shut down, so there is no way to participate in their activities at this point. Of course, with an old boat, there is always some kind of project to do.
We are very fortunate that we have all sorts of awesome hiking opportunities within a walk or bike ride from our marina. We have gone for a hike or run every day. We have been wanting to buy mountain bikes to use on the trails and for eventual long distance touring. Thankfully, the local bike shop had a few old used Trek bikes for sale that fit our needs and we could purchase while social distancing. We picked them up and immediately went for a bike ride on the cascade trail. This is a trail that starts not too far from where we live and goes up into the cascade mountains. We decided to turn around after several hours of riding after filling up on beer at a local brewery along the trail.
The weather has been fantastic and we decided to take advantage of the warm sunny weather. We went cruising for two nights in the San Juan Islands. Our marina location in Anacortes means this fantastic cruising ground is in our back yard!
Sailing in the Rosario Straight Snow capped Mt Baker in the distance Happy crew anchored on south end of Lopez Island
Of course, it is nice to know that our marine friends are watching the dock and there to greet us when we return.

Karen! I have been eagerly awaiting your new installment. I check each day as part of my morning run-through of websites. Unfortunately, your narrative is covered by photos on my iPad so I couldn’t read it. Not sure if it’s on my end or yours, but please check as I’m eager to hear the latest on the Great Adventure. Hope you, Erik and Snoopy are all well. Pam

Hi Pam, hope you are Dan are doing well and glad you are enjoying the blog! The post seems to be reading ok on my iPhone but this software is kind of crummy so there may be some kind of quirk. Let me know if this keeps happening on future posts. Cheers! Karen

Hi Carol – the paint is just plain old satin rustoleum. Not sure how long it will last, but will report back on how it performs.
