Erik and I have been busy with boat chores. As new, old boat owners that is to be expected. We are working to get Callooh! Callay! in top notch cruising condition. Ms Mary Lou required the same kind of up upfront care and effort, although she didn’t have all the systems that Callooh! Callay! does. Most all the repairs/work we are doing are new to us. Thank god for the internet and YouTube!
Projects completed so far include replacing the hose to the water pump on the diesel, replacing a sink drain hose, fixing the bilge pump, cleaning the algae off the Genoa and deck and reseating two leaky port holes. The most unpleasant project was replacing the hose from the holding tank to the pump out. You know it was a hard project when I had to get Erik to pause so I could wipe the poo off his forehead. We then spent multiple attempts at cleaning poo out of the bilge. Thankfully all the poo is now in its proper place. I promise not to post pictures of that project. We went to sleep after, filled with dreams of a future composting head.
We are also working on upgrades. We purchased a Rocna anchor, new rode and chain, a dinghy and outboard and are replacing the running rigging. We are going to add a few 12 volt outlets as well. We are waiting on parts to rebuild the manual bilge pump, reseat 8 more portholes and one hatch, replace some traveller parts, install a rear pulpit mounting bracket for the outboard and change out the gangway drop boards with doors. We are waiting on our new halyards to allow for going up and repairing the broken anchor light at the top of the mast. Unfortunately a lot of the good cruising areas are closed due to the virus, but we are taking advantage of the time to get everything in ship shape in the meantime. We have taken some time for fun and enjoyed a bike ride yesterday and chilling out.
I will post more pictures once projects are completed and Callooh! Callay! is more organized.

Love those boat chores! No access to our boat so staying home and rebuilding our property fence. Glade you have a home to shelter in. Keeping our fingers crossed for our trip in June to see you.

This is a fantastic post, and mission critical projects. You are using this freaky time to your best advantage. Folding bikes are the best. Stay safe and well. All good here in Denver so far…snow, then 70 degrees….repeat.

I guess the crazy Denver weather should keep things interesting. Stay safe’

Thanks for the update…so nice to be able to stay in touch. We are doing well so far. Had some snow a few days ago but are expecting 60’s and even a 70 degree day this week. Love to you both.
