Erik and I decided to spend the holiday in Anacortes. The City was having their 4th of July parade for the first time since COVID. We had a great time watching the parade. It has been so long since either of us has lived in a small town, it was fun going to the parade complete with fire engines, boy scouts, local businesses and community groups. The Anacortes Yacht Club had a great float and it was fun seeing all the other nautical groups in the seaside town participate such as the Anacortes Waterfront Alliance which has a youth sailing program and Oars, which is a rowing group. Even the local oil refineries, Shell and Marathon brought their fire apparatus for the parade.

The Yacht Club had the bar open after the parade and served red, white and blue cocktails. i.e. bloody mary, pina colada and blue Hawaiian. We enjoyed sitting out on the upstairs deck with friends. Later that day, the club had a dock party at the reciprocal mooring slips at the marina which happens to be on our dock. We hung out on the dock and boats and watched the fireworks. The sun does not go down until 10:30 pm this time of year, so the fireworks started quite late. What a treat! The wind was calm and the fireworks reflected off the water.
